Pushing limits
The biggest swim fundraising event Swimathon took place on 7-9 April this year. Swimmers all over the country swam in their local pools to raise money for Mari Curie Cancer Trust. They can choose distances between 1.5k, 2.5k and 5k as an individual or in a relay.
This year, our swimmers Erika, Donna, Anna and Kath have been training hard to attempt their first ever 5k (in the running world, this would be the equivalent of a half marathon). Rob's first solo swimathon was in 1991, having recovered from a recent back injury, he also swam a 5K with a goal to beat 2 hours. They were all thrilled to have completed the challenge under 2 hours. Alex and Tess also completed a 5k as a relay.
As a club, we encourage and support our swimmers to push their limits, whether it be learning a new stroke, winning medals or just to swim further. We are very proud of their achievments.
