Fins and Paddles
Well done to all the swimmers who swam at nationals, there were lots of PB's , lots of medals and lots of great swims form all who went.
Those that swam in Sheffield were a great ambassadors for the club and we should remember that as a competitive swimming club we want to see as many of you entering competitions.
Let's not forget the hard work that all the coaches put into getting all of you to where you want to be, whether that is to a competition, being fitter, having a better stroke, swimming open water, playing water polo, performing synchro or just looking better in your swim kit! it is because of their hard work and dedication to you swimmers that you can achieve all of this! So as the head coach and on behalf of all you swimmers I would like to say a big thank you to the coaches and on behalf of all the coaches I would like to say well done to all of you it has a been a good year of Aquatics for the club!
Now as we enter into the new annual cycle I thought it would be good to start the winter season with some things for all of you to think of.
We will be entering the "boring stage of swimming" that means lots of endurance lots of technical work some fast swimming, more endurance work but you will also start to notice the following:
- being fitter
- swimming longer with out needing to stop
- turn around times getting easier and even swimming a little faster
During this period you should focus on the following:
Good technique, try to improve your strokes and listen to what the coaches are telling you, work on one element of your stroke in each session. I know when it is busy it is hard for coaches to give individual feedback all the time but if you want a coach to look at something in your stroke just ask.
This is also a good time to invest in paddles and fins.
I would suggest investing in both. There will be sessions when coaches will want you to use one or both of those things. The paddles and fins are tools of the trade and will help develop your stroke and technique.
You will be encouraged to start bringing both to certain sessions and so please consider investing in them. It will be difficult for you train in a session if you do not have them when other swimmers do!
Lastly just to say as one famous fish once said
"Just keep Swimming"
Thanks all
