Artistic Angels medalled at Nationals
Out to Swim achieved excellent results at the Swim England National Masters Synchronised Swimming Championships on Saturday 4th November, taking gold, silver and bronze medals.
We fielded a group of 11 swimmers, of whom 7 had never competed before. The 7.46am train to Rugby saw a lot of anxious faces. But the team soon relaxed into the spirit of the competition and focused on their warm ups and walk throughs.
First up, was Susan Innes, who won gold for her graceful solo routines. Stephanie Ramsay swam controlled and elegant solo routines, but narrowly missed out on a medal in the highly competitive 18-24 year-old age group. Susan and Stephanie took bronze for their duet.
The team of Kirsty, Steph, Stephen and Tali performed strong technical and free routines, to Jai Ho and Cake by the Ocean, and took silver.
Our "Splashers" team of Andrea, Ben, Christophe, Delainey, Matthew, Michael, Sai, Stephen and Tali - most of whom are graduates of the Synchro Challenge course - swam a well-synchronised and entertaining routine to the Chicago musical soundtrack. The audience were incredibly impressed by the strength of the routine, given that 7 of these swimmers started synchro only 6 months ago.
Out to Swim fielded all but one of the male swimmers at the competition and really raised the profile of the male sport. Other teams were impressed by our achievements and pleased by the sheer enthusiasm and noisy support our team on poolside - which continued on the "party train" back to London.
