Orca women wins 10-4 against Watford

Eight Orca women traveled to the final stop of the Northern line - High Barnet for the second round of the London League. The pool at QE Boys’ School is, as many know, is huge and we played 4 quarters of 10 minutes, allegedly continuous time that turned out to be stopped time - yes, it lasted a full hour.

Things started well with Oti making the first goal of the match, with Watford equalising to make it 1-1 at the buzzer. In the second quarter, we started to find our groove, with a further 3 goals from Oti and a beauty from Elise. We kept them to only 2 goals, with some excellent defence - including double-marking their pit and stealing balls - by Marijke, Janice and our new player Laura and one amazing save after another from Thania.

Although we were tired with only one sub, we dominated the second half, with 2 goals (again from the outstanding Oti) to their 1 in the third quarter. We shut them out entirely in the final quarter, with a one-two goal off a man up by Marijke which I just pushed in. Oti was peerless with 2 more goals, the last one at the buzzer. Special mention goes to Carlotta who fought in the pit for the entire hour!!

Well done, all - we did ourselves proud!

Final score: Orca 10 - Watford 4. Our second match and second win of the summer league!
