OTS Individual Assistance Programme
Out To Swim are very excited to announce that from 1st March we will be investing in an Individual Assistance Programme that will be free to all members. We know that life can be hard sometimes and we all need a little more support. The sports we do are often a great help to our physical and mental wellbeing but sometimes this isn’t quite enough.
The Individual Assistance Programme is a free, 24/7 confidential helpline that any member can call to help them to deal with any number of issues in their life. They offer up to six sessions of varied types of counselling and support covering topics such as:
Mental Wellbeing
Anxiety
Depression
Stress
Domestic abuse
Addiction
Dedicated crisis support (when times get really tough)
Financial Wellbeing
Debt & financial
Probate & Will
Retirement
Redundancy
Legal help
Social Wellbeing
Bullying & harassment
Caring for a dependant
Child / elderly care
Separation & divorce
Bereavement
How you identify as part of the LGBTQ+ community
Discrimination
And much much more….
This service is free as part of your membership, 100% confidential and run completely independent (by a company called Health Assured) to Out To Swim. Even if you are not currently struggling with one of the above issues but know someone who is, please feel free to call. They can guide you through the best way to help someone that has confided in you or that you’re worried about. We know that supporting all our wellbeing is a great way for us to continue to be able to enjoy the water and all that Out To Swim has to offer.
I’m struggling or I know someone that is, how can I access this service?
It’s really easy, just call this number:
(if they ask for your ‘employer’, they mean the ‘club’, so just tell them Out To Swim) and have a chat.
So why don’t you save this to your phone right now! That way you’ll always have it.
Remember, you can call them 24/7 and they’ll be someone there to talk to.
There’s also an app that has a host of wellbeing services you can download here:
This has some great features to help support your wellbeing (meditation, mood tracker, podcasts etc) plus, you can also use it to email, video chat or message a counsellor.
We hope that you find this new service useful but it isn’t all we do on the subject of wellbeing! If you’re interested you’ll find a link to what we offer https://www.outtoswim.org/mhw. The Individual Assistance Programme is not intended to replace but to supplement the support we want all members to get from participating in our club activities or from our supportive OTS community and friendships.
If you have any issues in accessing the service please contact Joe Palmer (joe@outtoswim.org)
