OTS West sent their first team to an external event - the Royal Navy Open Meet in Somerset.  We had 6 swimmers - Nina, Kate, Michael, James, Matt and Al, along with Coach Jenny and cheerleader Rob.

It was a really well organised but relaxed competition in Millfield Pool, with some strong competition.

Despite that, everyone medalled, Nina and Al in the 400 Free, Michael in the 50 breast, Nina in the 100 back and 50 free, James, Matt  and Michael in the 50 back, Matt and Nina in the 100 IM, Al in the 200 free, Kate in the 100free. Not forgetting James, Matt, Nina and Kate in the 200 Medley Relay.  

All that meant that we came 14th out of 69 teams.  Not bad for our first outing.  

Huge thanks to Coach Jenny who guided us through our swims, took our splits, and pointed out some inspirational technique of other swimmers.  A big hug to Rob who cheered loudly from the sides, and to the rest of the team who were supporting us on whatsapp!

Most of all, it was great to see the tradition of being the loudest team at the meet carried on in the west.
