On Sunday the Orcettes played Penguins in their last game of the Winter League:

We didn’t know much about their team or goalie & so our aim for the first quarter was to get as many shots off as possible, to test her.

We won possession off the swim & scored within the first 20seconds!! A great start to the game, and it wasn’t long till Elise pushed us further ahead with our 2nd goal on the board!

Defence was tight, with Meghan in particular nailing her CB position & Jules backing her up when needed! Alex & Carlota sat really well in CF, rotating when one was being heavily marked & creating some great opportunities for the team.

Our 2nd quarter was a bit sloppier, with us not capitalising on extra-man opportunities and not picking up the loose players. Thania saved some great shots, which meant we held them going into half time 4-3.

3rd quarter was like a whole new game! Everyone was firing! We created some great opportunities, scoring off 2 of our extra man plays! With Grace getting a great goal from post position! Jo taking the initiative to have a shot on goal. Finally, our extra-man coming together! You wouldn’t know that Aimie & Jo have only really played one season with us, the two of them defended their players really well, Amiee created a great attacking drive & was unlucky to not get a goal from it!

5 goals to their 0 scored in 3rd quarter & all 5 goals scored by 5 people!! A really great spread across the team!

Alex then further showed our dominance with 2 goals to their 0 in the 4th!

Everyone played really well, everyone had a shot on goal, (bar Thania, clearly something she needs to work on!) which was great to see!

Final score was 11-3.

It was a really great game to end the season on & hopefully a sign of the upcoming summer season!
