On Wednesday night a handful of keen beginners popped their cherry in their first London League friendly match against Blue Marlin.
The ducklings crew – @~Alex Byron @~Claudio, and @~Felix – travelled down to Walton-on-Thames, led by Captain @~David H and B veteran @~Jake Evans to play in their first London League match.
The game was played as a friendly with the purpose of gaining more experience in a competitive match setting.
Everyone played really well and grew in confidence and game awareness as the match went on.
Alex and Claudio scored their first goals on extra player from post, using good technique to come out of the water, catch and shoot past the goalie.
Felix and Jake showed excellent game awareness and movement in the water to create space and organise the team in both attack and defence.
Captain David directed the team from goal giving advice to everyone and saving many shots, including one with his left tit – that must have hurt!
The Marlins lent us some of their experienced players who also joined in to give the team advice and help improve our game.
Great vibes all round – we swam a lot and had a lot of fun, and definitely earned the kebab we got on the way back!
Here’s to seeing all our ducklings in many more matches, scoring goals and having a fab time.
