Winning streak comes to an end as Orcas defeated 8-17 by Beckenham

Added on by Andrew Morris.

The Orcas took a cold shower as a physically and tactically superior Beckenham took home the win, 8-17, at LAC last night.

After three consecutive wins for the A team, it was a sobering loss against the third force of Division 2, but still a learning experience.

The first two quarters were relatively close – ending 5-8 for the away team. But as fatigue settled in for the Orcas, Beckenham truly got into their grove and scored a ton in the last two quarters.

And as we struggled more and more to drop in defence, we also had a hard time finding our feet in attack.

Nevertheless, we practiced new movements in attack – like a double pit – and continued to work on our man-up tactics, which now work really well.

By public demand – and by public, I mean our lovely table volunteers @⁨~Jake Evans⁩, @⁨~Lucy⁩ and @⁨~Jo⁩ – @⁨~Matt Rosenfeld⁩ wins goal of the day thanks to a beautiful quick shot coming from nowhere. A stylish goal that one of our table officials even dared to call “magikkkkkhhh” (can you guess who?)

Despite the defeat, it was an enjoyable evening of polo with lots to learn from and sweetened by the thought that we’ll be back playing with this team next year.
